Russia: Kosovo and asymmetry of perceptions
Kosovo appears to be an archaic topic. The Yugoslav question was a 1990s issue, while the Kosovo issue has appeared to be one of those conflicts that never quite goes away but isn't regarded very seriously by the international community. You hear about it but you don't care about it. However, Kosovo is getting very serious again.
Karl Rove Worried About Ron Paul "Momentum"
Without mentioning his name, Karl Rove made it clear during a recent appearance on Hannity and Colmes that he is worried about people jumping on a bandwagon and supporting a candidate who picks up momentum as a result of the early Republican primaries being bunched together tightly.
Since Rove had already discussed the other Republican candidates in the Fox News piece, he could only have been referring to Congressman Ron Paul.

Presidency: EU must be ready to guide Kosovo to independence
The would-be EU presidency said here Thursday that the European Union must be ready to guide Kosovo to independence after the U.N. Security Council failed to settle the future status of the breakaway Serb province.
Russia warns UN it will veto independence for Kosovo
The EU agreed last week to send a mission to Kosovo to replace that of the UN, and to create support for possible independence. Russia said it will use its veto to deny such a mission the blessing of the UN, but the EU says the mission will go ahead with or without UN approval.
Looks like the UN is about to become "irrelevant" again, according to the EU, this time.
However this comes down, it is coming down ugly, unless the US and EU back off, which appears unlikely. (MR)
